Saudi Arabia flight cancelations: 11 airlines, suspension dates, and refund policies
Following the attacks on Saudi Arabia's airports, Air India, IndiGo, flydubai, Emirates, and other airlines have canceled flights. Examine the affected routes and suspension dates.
International travelers headed to Saudi Arabia are facing new flight difficulties following attacks on the kingdom's airports. IndiGo has extended its cancelations to October 24, and Air India has banned services to three Saudi cities until October 17, 2026. Akasa Air has also prolonged its suspension as airlines reassess their safety procedures.
The disruption followed attacks on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, which forced airport closures and airlines to postpone or reschedule flights. Before departing for the airport, passengers traveling for Umrah, work, family visits, or business should check the most recent flight status.

Which Saudi airports were attacked?
Attacks and reported threats have impacted numerous areas of Saudi Arabia's aviation network:
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh (RUH) has been the target of several attacks, including raids on airport buildings and a Saudia aircraft. Further attacks in October resulted in injuries and substantial flight disruptions.
An attack on Abha International Airport (AHB) on October 6 killed two persons and injured 28 others, according to Saudi aviation authorities.
King Fahd International Airport, Dammam (DMM): During the October 11 occurrences, a projectile was detected near the airport, and damage assessments were conducted later.
Jazan and Najran airports have been cited in reports of attacks or attempted strikes. Details and confirmation differ by incidence.
According to the latest sources, Riyadh's airport closure has been prolonged till October 17. That date should be viewed as a scheduled review point, rather than a guaranty that normal activities would resume soon.

What can the affected passengers do?
If your flight has been canceled, check the airline's official app or website before heading to the airport.
Request a refund: Air India has announced that impacted passengers who cancel their bookings will receive full reimbursements. For other airlines, consult the relevant interruption policy.
Request to reschedule: Confirm whether you may move your reservation to a later date without incurring a change fee.
Check the connecting flights separately: If your Saudi flight is part of a single-ticket international itinerary, request that the airline also arrange for the affected subsequent route.
Avoid booking a new ticket right away: first, determine whether the alternative route is operational and whether your original airline would cover any additional charges.
Follow official updates: Pay attention to airline alerts and airport advisories, especially if you're traveling for Umrah, employment, or family reasons.
The pattern is clear: airlines change schedules in reaction to security threats, not just ordinary operating delays. A cancelation expiration date that has been published may change with short notice.

We urge deferring any non-essential travel until airlines certify stable operations. If your vacation cannot wait, obtain written rebooking or refund terms before making alternative plans.
